Our packaging: recycling & upcycling

  • 2 min read

We're pleased to say that all the packaging that comes with our meals is either recyclable, biodegradable or compostable, we've worked hard to make sure of this. For us, this was hugely important as we put sustainability at the heart of our business. Here is a quick run down of what to do with each part of the packaging - some can even be upcycled!

Our pots are made from sustainably managed forestry and are widely recyclable. Please make sure you give the pots a good rinse so there's no food left in them before you put them in your recycling. Our pots have a thin plastic lining which makes them microwave and freezer safe but we are working on an alternative which has no plastic.

Our sleeves are fully recyclable and are printed with vegetable based inks and use carbon balanced printing.

The ice packs can be recycled by snipping off the end, pouring the contents down the sink (it's not harmful to the environment) and recycling the plastic at large supermarket recycling points.

The sustainable cotton denim insulation is compostable/biodegradable, and has a recyclable covering. The denim comes from recycled sources, diverting it from landfill. You can recycle the outer packaging at large supermarket recycling points and put your denim in your home compost or in your black bin.

Our cardboard boxes and paper stickers can be recycled in your curbside recycling.

Upcycling & reusing!

We are very proud of our welcome flyer which is made of 100% seeded paper - a wildflower mix (not edible to us humans...) that can be planted with a bit of love and care to create a natural habitat for birds and bees. See separate blog post here for more info on how to do this.

The pots can be upcycled into plant pots or activities for the kids (more on this in blog posts to follow!).

Our ice packs can be reused - these are very cold ice packs that take longer to freeze but are created specifically for transporting frozen products so they can stay frozen for longer.

If you have any questions please email through to us at hello@wildlytasty.com, we'd be happy help!
